I’ve been gone, but now I’m back! This summer was crazy- I moved out to LA for a few months, then came back to Boston to finish up school. Here’s my “Los Angeles Playlist”- it’s based on songs that reminded me of that summer. Please note that I did not include Linkin Park even though that nonsense was on every freaking radio station.
I can’t stop listening to this song. “Home” by Foxes.
Apparently, Gotye was not a big fan of Glee’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” cover, stating:
“They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals, but the vocals were that pop Gleestyle, ultra dry,” he told the Mail. “[It] sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box.”
Personally, the cover didn’t do anything for me, either. However, this cover is freaking awesome. Did anyone see Gotye at the House of Blues? If so, I’d love if you’d share some footage!
I love clearing out my desktop and coming across gems. Here is a video taken at the Knitting Factory (Brooklyn, NY) this past summer. I’ve always been a big fan of A Great Big Pile of Leaves and this was my first time seeing them live. And yes, it was incredible. Make sure you catch them if you’re going to Bamboozle! Here is “workeatsleep” off of The Fiery Works.
3-day passes to Lolla are officially all gone. However, Sunday is looking pretty perfect in my eyes…
“For Now” by DreamAge.
Check out this local artist that just dropped their song only minutes ago. If you like what you here, be sure to follow their tumblr. I can dig it.
Sweet Heart Sweet Light, Spiritualized’s newest album, has been getting some swell reviews so far. Stereogum just named it their album of the week and FILTERmagazine rated it an impressive 83%. Here’s “Hey Jane.”
This song was stuck in my head ALL weekend. “Bones” by Of Monsters and Men.
